The Best Parties in the Chicagoland area. 10 out of 10
in the Lake Barrington, Barrington, Cary, Crystal Lake, or the northwest suburbs with kids, teens, family, or friends?
Battle House Laser Tag gives your crew something active, competitive, and completely different from another afternoon sitting in front of a screen.
Reserve Your SchoolThere are plenty of things to do around the Barrington and Crystal Lake area, especially when the weather is nice.
But this is Chicagoland. Nice weather does not always get a vote.
Battle House gives families a year-round indoor activity where kids, teens, and adults can all participate together. Players enter our massive 15,000-square-foot tactical arena, join a team, and compete through mission-based laser tag games built around teamwork, strategy, and friendly competition.
It is a great choice for family outings, weekends with friends, school breaks, birthday groups, teen hangouts, sports teams, youth groups, and those afternoons when somebody finally says, “Can we please do something?”
We can help with that.
Battle House is very different from the quick laser tag game you might find tucked into the back of an arcade.
There are no bulky vests and no tiny arena where the round ends just as everyone figures out what they are doing.
Players use realistic laser tag equipment and move through a large, immersive battlefield completing different missions and objectives.
Depending on the mission, your team may need to capture a position, defend an objective, protect teammates, or outthink the opposing team.
Sometimes the 10-year-old develops the best strategy.
Adults are encouraged to accept this gracefully.
Book NowFinding an activity that works for different ages can be surprisingly difficult.
Little kids want action. Teens do not want anything that feels like it was designed for little kids. Adults would occasionally like to have some fun too.
Battle House checks all three boxes.
Kids love that it feels like stepping into a real-life video game. Teens love the competition and realistic equipment. Adults quickly discover that watching from the sidelines is not nearly as much fun as joining the battle.
Parents get an activity that keeps everyone moving, communicating, laughing, and away from their screens for a while.
Popular with boys. Fun for everyone. Easy for parents.
Get Started TodayCold weekend? Rainy afternoon? Hot and humid? Snow outside?
Battle House is fully indoors, so your plans do not have to depend on whatever the Chicagoland forecast decided to do that morning.
It makes Battle House a strong option for indoor family fun throughout Lake Barrington, Barrington, Cary, Fox River Grove, Crystal Lake, Lake Zurich, Algonquin, and the surrounding northwest suburbs.
Instead of another movie or another afternoon at home, your crew gets to move, compete, and experience something together.
And unlike most weather backup plans, Battle House can actually be the activity everyone hoped you would choose in the first place.
Battle House gameplay is built around missions.
That means winning usually takes more than running around trying to tag as many people as possible.
Players need to communicate, make decisions, cover teammates, defend positions, and change strategy when the other team refuses to cooperate with the plan.
Some players immediately become squad leaders.
Some quietly become the most valuable player on the team.
Some spend the first mission figuring out where everyone went.
It all counts as strategy.
That mission-based format helps make every game different and gives families and groups something new to experience throughout the session.
Battle House is designed for guests who want more than a quick 10- or 15-minute laser tag round.
Choose from one-hour and longer gameplay options depending on the day’s schedule and availability.
Longer sessions mean more missions, more chances to try different strategies, and enough time for players to really get into the experience.
That makes Battle House a great fit whether you are planning a family afternoon, meeting friends, celebrating a birthday, getting a sports team together, or simply searching for something fun to do around Barrington.
If your search for fun things to do in Lake Barrington IL has produced the same movies, bowling, shopping, and restaurant suggestions again, it might be time to try something different.
Bring the kids. Bring the teenagers. Bring your friends.
And yes, parents should play too.
Gather your squad and take on your next mission at Battle House Laser Tag in Lake Barrington.

They are great with kids. Any ages. My kids 7&10 were there playing for 2 hours and had a great time!!!! Love this place.
Great place for the kids to have fun with friends and burn off some extra energy! Don’t forget your battle house shirt for free upgrades…

This place is absolutely awesome. This is tactical laser tag with " missions", rather than the typically laser tag with all the blinky annoying lights. It's fun for kids as well as adults. The staff is excellent and professional. They are also phenomenal with individual groups like Explorer Princesses and Boy Scouts, etc. This place gets 5 stars easy.
I've played maybe 10-15 times, and usually all sessions go great. Typically any bad review is usually from immature kids who don't know how to listen, consistently break the rules, and might have to sit out a game.

An Absolute Blast! Not Your Average Laser Tag
We visited Battle House Laser Tag in Lake Barrington for a 2-hour session midday this past Saturday with the family, and it completely blew our expectations out of the water! If you are picturing the neon-lit, blacklight "kiddy" laser tag from the 90s, think again. This is a full-blown tactical, real-life video game experience.
The Arena & Vibe
The facility is massive—an indoor arena right around 15,000 square feet. It is built like a movie set or a first-person shooter map, complete with eight two-story buildings, alleys, and plenty of places to take cover. Because we went on a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty busy with a mix of birthday parties and walk-ins, but the arena is so large that it never felt unmanageably crowded.
Gameplay & Equipment
Instead of a simple "free-for-all," the games are structured around specific 15 to 25-minute missions. Over our 2-hour block, we played awesome scenarios like Capture the Flag, Search and Destroy, and VIP Escort.
The gear itself is top-notch. You are outfitted with head sensors and realistic-feeling taggers. A nice bonus for parents: the equipment uses safe, invisible infrared light (just like a TV remote), so there are no actual lasers to worry about with your eyes.
My son had a wonderful party at Battle House. The staff was fantastic and ensure we had a full 2 hours of play.
The facility is always clean, the equipment in great working order, and all have a great time.
